Adding the Dial-Up-Networking Icon
- Double-Click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- Double-Click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Once "inside", Double-Click on the Make New Connection icon.
- Choose a name for this connection, "Islandnet" is common
- Make sure your modem is selected in the pull-down selection box
- Selecting Next will then prompt you for the phone number
- Make sure the area code is correct and choose from the following cities for the number:
- Victoria: 380-4731
- Duncan: 715-0696
- Nanaimo: 741-8995
- Qualicom/Parksville: 468-7457
Select the Next button to continue
Most people want the icon to reside on the desktop, follow along to put a copy there.
You will now have an Islandnet icon in the Dial-Up-Networking folder, simply Click (and hold) and drag it to your desktop.
You will be told that you cannot move the icon there...
Click Yes.
Connecting and Disconnecting
- Double-Click on the Shortcut to Islandnet on your desktop.
- A Connect To box will appear asking you to enter your User name and Password.
- Enter your username followed by %ppp
- Click on the Connect button.
- The following boxes will appear during the logging-in process.

- The window will shrink down to your system tray and appear as two small computers.
- You're connected!
- Now you would launch whatever Internet application you desire, ie: a web browser, E-mail applications, etc...
- To disconnect, Double-Click on the icon in your system tray, Click on the Disconnect button.
