Initial modem setup

• When you start up the Web Browser CD, the Dreamcast will give you the opportunity to set up your own ISP. Click on the choice for setting up your own ISP and proceed with the following steps.

  If for some reason you don't see the screen for setting your internet and mail connections, press the START button and you'll see a 'honeycomb' pattern of buttons pop up. Using the arrow cursor choose the "OPTIONS" button on the bottom right and then press the (A) key.

  

• Now use the cursor to select the "Internet Conection" Icon and press the (A) button.
  

• Fill out the "Basic Info" form as seen below. Using the cursor and the (A) button select the "Your Real Name" field and type in your name using the keyboard that is visible on the screen.

• Your "User Login" is your islandnet.com username followed by '%ppp'. In the example it's "user%ppp". Then type your password into the "Password" field.

• choose the dialup number that is local to your area:

  Victoria:            380-4731
  Duncan:              715-0696
  Nanaimo:             741-8995
  Qualicom/Parksville: 468-7457
  

• Set the DNS1 to 199.175.106.252 and DNS2 to 199.175.106.221. Press the "CLOSE" button on the lower right of the keyboard to remove it from the screen.
  

• Now, click on the label "Dial Options" on the top of the screen. You'll see a window where you can set the local area code, what to dial when calling long distance and the code needed to disable call waiting features or get outside lines. MOST users may leave all these fields blank.
  

• Now, click on the "Proxy Settings" on the top of the screen. For islandnet, you don't need to program a proxy, but you can if you want to. If you don't, set the "Use Proxy" to "no". Then press the "OK" button. If you wish to use a proxy server, it is "proxy.islandnet.com" and port "80".
  

• To save all your settings press the "SAVE"" button at the main setup screen.
  

  E-Mail setup

• To set up your e-mail account click on the "Email Account" icon.
  

• Set your "EMAIL LOGIN" to your islandnet username. Enter your password and E-Mail address into the appropriate boxes. Note: To type in an "@" symbol you first have to click on the (SHIFT) button on the on screen keyboard to shift the "2" key to display "@".

• Set the Incoming mail server to "pop.islandnet.com". Set the Outgoing mail server to "mail.islandnet.com".

• Press "OK" to exit the screen.
  

• Now save the settings to the console memory by pressing the "SAVE" button at the bottom of the screen.
  

  Browsing the Web and Sending or reading e-mail

• From the main screen, click on "ENTER" to browse the web or "E-MAIL" to send or receive e-mail. You'll then see the modem dialing the phone like this:
  

• It will typically take a few seconds to establish a connection. You can disconnect from the internet by clicking on the arrows () on any screen or by turning off the Dreamcast system.
